Pickup & meet your guide

Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel lobby in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. Aswan's sights are more spread out than Cairo's, so your guide walks you through the day's route — a mix of boat crossings and short drives — on the way to the first stop.
Philae Temple (by boat)

Dedicated to the goddess Isis, this temple complex was moved stone by stone to Agilkia Island in the 1960s and 70s to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, a UNESCO rescue operation that relocated the entire site piece by piece. Maro takes you across by motorboat and walks you through the temple's courts and colonnades, explaining how Isis worship here continued centuries after most of Egypt had converted to Christianity.
"Philae is one of the last places in Egypt where the old religion held on. Isis was still worshipped here long after temples elsewhere had shut down," says Maro Saeed, your guide.
The Aswan High Dam

Completed in 1970, the High Dam reshaped Egypt's relationship with the Nile, ending the annual flood cycle that had governed farming for thousands of years and creating Lake Nasser, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Maro explains the trade-offs behind the project — reliable irrigation and electricity, against the loss of ancient sites and farmland silt — from a viewpoint overlooking the reservoir.
"This dam changed everything about how Egyptians farm and live along the river. It's not as old as the temples, but it might be just as important to understanding modern Egypt," Maro notes.
The Unfinished Obelisk

Still attached to the bedrock in its ancient quarry, this obelisk cracked during carving and was abandoned partway through, offering a rare, unfiltered look at how the pharaohs' monuments were actually cut from stone. Had it been completed, it would have stood taller than any obelisk ever raised in Egypt. Maro walks you along the trenches carved by ancient workers, pointing out tool marks still visible in the granite.
"This is my favorite site in Aswan, honestly. Everywhere else, you see the finished result. Here, you see the process — and the mistake that stopped it," says Maro.
Lunch
A relaxed lunch stop at a local restaurant in Aswan, several with terraces looking out over the Nile and the granite boulders scattered along the riverbanks. A good chance to rest before heading back to your hotel.
"Aswan has a slower pace than Cairo, and lunch here with the river in view is a nice way to feel that shift," Maro notes.
Drop-off & goodbye
Private transfer back to your hotel, door-to-door. Want to add a felucca ride at sunset around Elephantine Island, or a visit to a Nubian village? Just ask your guide.

"We did a family private tour — Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and Hurghada — and strongly recommend Maro and his team. Communication was excellent at any time and the package very competitive. We kept to the itinerary with all inclusions and no extra charge."
"A French family with two young children. Maro designed a trip exactly as we had imagined — extremely available and responsive throughout. The guides took our young kids into account and showed us incredible places off the beaten track."
"A great trip to remember a lifetime! We travelled as a three-generation group of seven with many special requests, and they replanned several times until the itinerary met our ideas in detail. A very competent, friendly guide throughout."
