Every tour is exclusively yours. Your certified Egyptologist. Your pace. Your questions answered in depth. From the Great Pyramids to Abu Simbel — no strangers, no compromises.
Egypt Tours by Locals was founded on a single conviction: the only way to truly experience ancient Egypt is privately, guided by someone who has dedicated their career to understanding it. Every guide on our team holds a university degree in Egyptology or archaeology — not a general tourism certificate.
In 10 years of operating private Egypt tours, we have taken over 500 travelers from more than 40 countries through the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, the temples of Luxor and Aswan, Abu Simbel at dawn, and beyond. Every tour is designed around your pace, your interests, and your questions — never a shared coach with strangers.
From short Cairo breaks to comprehensive Nile cruises with Abu Simbel — every package is led exclusively by a certified Egyptologist and includes all site entrance fees, airport transfers, and daily breakfast.
Why stop at one ancient civilization? Our multi-country private tours combine Egypt and Petra in Jordan, the modern skyline of Dubai, or the Ottoman and Byzantine heritage of Turkey – all with the same authentic local expertise.
Our guide, Mai, was a brilliant Egyptologist at every archaeological site. At Abu Simbel, she explained to us the phenomenon of the sun’s alignment, in which the sun’s rays illuminate the statue of Ramses II only twice a year, and we were all deeply moved during her explanation. It was more like an archaeology lesson than a tourist tour.
I was skeptical about a budget Egypt tour delivering a quality experience. Completely wrong. The Nile cruise ship was genuinely comfortable, the guide knew the Valley of the Kings better than most academics I’ve met, and the private format meant we never once felt rushed. Worth every penny — actually, worth far more than what we paid.
I’m a high school history teacher who has taught ancient Egypt for 15 years. This tour gave me material for the next decade of lessons. Our Egyptologist answered questions I’ve had for years about hieroglyphic inscriptions with the ease of someone who has spent their career at these sites. I’ve never learned more in 8 days of travel.
I’ve traveled extensively and considered myself well-read on ancient Egypt. Within the first hour at Karnak Temple, our guide had already told me three things I had no idea about despite years of reading. The private format was a revelation — we could linger at paintings that moved us and ask follow-up questions until we truly understood what we were seeing.
We debated for months whether Egypt was safe for two solo travelers. The answer is an emphatic yes — especially with a local company who knows every corner of the country. Our guide navigated every situation perfectly. The 2 nights in Hurghada at the end as a Red Sea decompression after so much history was brilliant trip design.
I only had 6 days, and I was worried it wouldn’t be enough to feel Egypt properly. Completely wrong. The itinerary was smart — every morning was a major site, afternoons gave breathing room, nothing felt rushed. Luxor alone would have justified the entire trip. I’m already planning the 10-day version for next year with the same company.

We recommend an 8-day Egypt itinerary for first-timers, including Cairo and a 4-night Nile cruise with a visit to Abu Simbel. The itinerary includes visits to the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum, Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, a 4-night Nile cruise, and the famous Abu Simbel temples – all the major attractions without feeling rushed. If your stay is only 6 days, a 6-day budget Egypt tour including Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Abu Simbel is an ideal option. Both tours are completely private and led by certified Egyptologists.
Three things truly set us apart. First, all our tours are completely private—your group and your certified Egyptologist-specialized guide are exclusively yours. You’ll never mingle with strangers. Second, all our guides hold a university degree in Egyptology or archaeology—not a general tourism qualification. Third, our prices are completely transparent—all entrance fees are included, and there will be no surprises at the gates of archaeological sites.
Our private Egypt tours range from $1,200 per person (7–8 days) up to $3,850 per person for comprehensive multi-country packages. All prices include your certified Egyptologist guide, airport transfers, all monument and museum entrance fees, domestic flights where listed in the itinerary, and daily breakfast. International flights from your home country are not included.
The best time to visit Egypt is October through April, when temperatures are comfortable for touring ancient sites — typically 15–28°C (59–82°F). December through February is particularly pleasant. Avoid June through August, when desert temperatures regularly exceed 40°C (104°F) at outdoor sites such as the Giza Plateau and the Valley of the Kings. We recommend booking at least 3 months in advance for departures from October to April.
Egypt is safe for tourists in 2026, especially in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and the Nile Valley. Security is present at major sites, and over 15 million visitors come each year. Traveling with a knowledgeable local operator is recommended.
Plan at least 7 days: 2 in Cairo, then a Nile cruise to Luxor and Aswan. For Abu Simbel, choose 8–10 days. Add the Red Sea or Alexandria to a 10–12-day tour for a more complete trip.
