Pickup & meet your guide

Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel lobby in a private, air-conditioned vehicle for the drive out to Abu Simbel. The early start covers the roughly 3-hour journey through the desert, timed so you arrive before the heat and the tour bus crowds build up.
The Abu Simbel Temples

Carved directly into a mountainside by Ramesses II over 3,000 years ago, the Great Temple's facade is guarded by four colossal seated statues of the pharaoh, each over 20 meters tall. Inside, a series of chambers lead to a sanctuary aligned so precisely that sunlight strikes the inner statues twice a year, on dates believed to mark Ramesses II's birthday and coronation.
Maro also brings you to the smaller Temple of Hathor next door, dedicated to Ramesses' queen, Nefertari. He explains the extraordinary 1960s relocation effort, when the entire complex was cut into blocks and reassembled higher up the cliff to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
"People are amazed by the statues, but for me the real story is the rescue. An international team moved an entire mountain, piece by piece, and you can barely see the seams," says Maro Saeed, your guide.
Lunch
A relaxed lunch stop at a local restaurant in Abu Simbel village, just a short walk from the temples, before the long drive back to Aswan. A good chance to rest and refuel with a proper meal after the early start.
"This village exists almost entirely because of the temples, but it has its own small-town charm. Lunch here is a nice, quiet break before the road back," Maro notes.

"A fabulous vacation, mostly thanks to Maro’s planning. Our 8-day private tour covered the Giza Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and a Nile cruise. Our Cairo guide Maii was knowledgeable and friendly, and our cruise guide Abdo took great care of us throughout."
"Nothing short of exceptional. Every question was answered promptly and the whole custom trip was planned with impressive attention to detail. As a mom travelling with my two daughters, we felt completely safe, respected and well cared for at all times."
"From tailoring the itinerary to being dropped at the airport, everything went amazingly thanks to Maro and his team. Our Cairo guide Maii was fantastic, and Amir shared his knowledge beautifully from Luxor to Aswan. An unforgettable experience."
"We did a family private tour — Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and Hurghada — and strongly recommend Maro and his team. Communication was excellent at any time and the package very competitive. We kept to the itinerary with all inclusions and no extra charge."
"A French family with two young children. Maro designed a trip exactly as we had imagined — extremely available and responsive throughout. The guides took our young kids into account and showed us incredible places off the beaten track."
"A great trip to remember a lifetime! We travelled as a three-generation group of seven with many special requests, and they replanned several times until the itinerary met our ideas in detail. A very competent, friendly guide throughout."
