Egypt’s currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) is not accepted in Egypt. USD and Egyptian Pounds (EGP) are needed on the ground. Exchange MYR to USD at KLIA money changers before departure or use ATMs at Cairo airport for EGP.
Egypt’s tourist areas are well-policed. Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises that Egypt's tourist regions are generally safe for tourists. Exercise normal precautions and follow standard travel advisories.
