Embark on a captivating journey to Alexandria, starting with a pick-up from a comfortable hotel in Cairo or Giza. Travel in comfort to this historic city, with your first stop being the Roman Theater in the Kom el-Dikka neighborhood, showcasing Alexandria’s rich archaeological heritage. Next, explore the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, a unique necropolis that blends Pharaonic and Hellenistic influences. Discover the legendary Great Library of Alexandria, a symbol of ancient knowledge, and take photos from the outside, as it is closed on Fridays. Visit the magnificent Citadel of Qaitbay, built on the site of the ancient lighthouse, before concluding your tour at the beautiful Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque. After a day filled with history, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza by our representative, followed by a comfortable transfer in a private A/C vehicle to Alexandria, located 220 kilometers away. You’ll arrive in Alexandria and kick off your day with a visit to the Roman Theater in the Kom El-Dikka neighborhood.
This archaeological site, once a prosperous residential area, showcases the largest and most complete above-ground archaeological remains in Alexandria, including a bath complex, lecture halls, and well-preserved villas adorned with mosaics.
Next, you’ll explore the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa, a fascinating necropolis considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. This site features a series of tombs, statues, and artifacts that reflect the Pharaonic funerary customs, blended with Hellenistic and early Roman influences.
Your tour continues with a visit to the Great Library of Alexandria, once one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. Part of a larger institution known as the Mouseion, dedicated to the Muses, the library symbolizes the pursuit of knowledge and learning in antiquity. Please note that the library is closed on Fridays, so you will have the opportunity to take photos from outside.

Next, you’ll visit the Qaitbay Citadel, an essential fortification on the Mediterranean coast. Built by the Mamluk Sultan al-Ashraf Abu al-Nasr Qaitbay between 1477 and 1479, the citadel was constructed over the ruins of Alexandria’s ancient lighthouse and served as a defense against naval attacks.
Your final stop will be the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque, an elegant mosque named after the 13th-century mystic Abu’l Abbas al-Mursi, who is buried here alongside members of the Ashraf family.
At the end of your tour, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
